Enzo Ferrari acquired the Prancing Horse emblem after winning the Savio circuit, which was run in Ravenna in 1923. Ferrari was introduced to Count Enrico Baracca whose late son Francesco had been a World War 1 flying ace. Francesco had used the emblem on the fuselage of his fighter plane and his mother the Countess Paolina suggested that using emblem would bring good luck to Ferrari.

Although not the sleek Fiat we know today, as early as 1911 the Fiat driven by David Bruce-Brown reached a then lightening speed of almost 75 MPH at the November 30th Savannah race. The Fiat raced 24 laps to complete a total of 411.360 miles. A second Fiat S74 was driven by Fiat team driver Caleb Bragg. And in earlier 1911 ...

Fiat number 28, driven by Bruce - Brown at the Indy 500 came in 3rd completing all 200 2.5 mile laps. Bruce - Brown led the way for 81 of those 200 laps and earned a whopping $3,000.00 purse as 3rd place prize. All pretty impressive stats for this Italian made 1911 Fiat Grand Prix racer.
